Who We Are

Sacred Heart Church was built and dedicated in 1944 to serve the needs of the small Catholic community in Walls, Mississippi.

Our mission is to be a witness to the all-inclusive love of God revealed in the Sacred Heart of Jesus to be a voice of compassion for people in need to be a steadfast in our work for social justice.

What We Do

Through the financial support of donors throughout the United States, Sacred Heart Southern Missions staffs and funds the programs and work of two Catholic elementary schools providing a proven path out of poverty for more than 550 children, 8 Catholic social service offices serving over 3000 families each month, including the only ministry in the area to HIV/AIDS patients and their families. We staff a housing program including Dehon Village with 38 single family homes for low-income families whose rent is subsidized by Sacred Heart Southern Missions. Our Social Services department includes an active volunteer program. Our priests serve 6 widely scattered parishes in an area that is only two percent Catholic.
