As kids head back to school, supplies are crucial to help them succeed – whether online or in the classroom. Every year when kids are getting ready to head back to school, The Salvation Army teams up with Walmart to help local families in need get school supplies. On August 5th, we are hosting our Back 2 School event at the Kroc Center, where families will come pick up these much-needed school supplies. A great way to help with this event is by purchasing items from the registry we have created. This registry helps provide school supplies to children that need them so that they can start the school year right.
Dates, times, and shift descriptions for volunteering to assist with our Back 2 School event are below:
- August 3rd / 10am–1pm
- Backpack Packers: packing backpacks with school supplies we have received, light lunch provided
- August 5th / 12:30pm–3:30pm
- Traffic Directors: directing traffic to make sure the drive-thru pick-up runs smoothly
- Verifiers: verifying the number of children in the vehicles to ensure the correct amount of backpacks are given
- Distributors: giving the backpacks to families in the drive-thru lines
- Runners: grabbing the backpacks to give to distributors
