In 2001, the Malco Southwest Twin Drive In closed its doors, and, over time, the blighted property became a source of concern for neighboring communities. As a result, in 2022, the City of Memphis and Shelby County each committed $1 million to reactivate and revitalize the site of the Southwest Twin Drive-In. This year will kick off a series of temporary activations, planned by neighbors, stakeholders, groups, and government, and will demonstrate the possibilities for this site's future, which can serve as a catalyst for positive change in the community.
Join us on Saturday, June 24 to get the site event-ready! Come volunteer to help landscape, mulch flower beds, put up walls in the pavilion, paint and prep for murals, and pick up debris around the Southwest Twin. Thanks to our partnership with Uplift Westwood CDC, Memphis City Beautiful, Clean Memphis, Paint Memphis, Castle Black, and Slater Millwork this Box Office Smash Clean Up will prepare the site for more activity and events.
