Youth Creative Workshop Leader

Description

Art has a unique way of helping children communicate, build confidence, and develop meaningful connections. As a Creative workshop leader, you'll encourage refugee and immigrant youth through engaging art activities while creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment where every child feels seen and valued.

Whether you're an experienced artist or simply enjoy working with children, your presence can make a lasting impact.

What You'll Do

  • Support weekly creative arts workshops for youth ages 10–14.
  • Encourage participation and build positive relationships with students.
  • Help facilitate activities alongside the lead instructor.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment.
  • Lead small-group conversations and encourage creativity.
  • Assist with classroom setup and cleanup.

Optional Opportunity

  • Lead a 30–40 minute art activity or creative project based on your interests and skills.

  • Comfortable engaging with youth from diverse cultural backgrounds.

No formal art experience is required—just a willingness to encourage and connect with young people.

Time Commitment

  • When: Wednesdays, July 15 – September 23
  • Time: 5:00–7:00 PM
  • Commitment: Approximately 3–4 hours each week (including setup and cleanup)

Volunteer Onboarding

Before serving, all volunteers complete our onboarding process, which includes:

  • Volunteer application
  • Online orientation and training
  • Background check

We'll provide everything you need to feel prepared and supported before your first workshop.

Every masterpiece begins with someone who believes in the artist. By serving as a Creative Arts Mentor, you'll help refugee and immigrant youth discover confidence, creativity, and a place where they belong.
