One of the greatest barriers for newly arrived families is simply having someone to practice English with in a welcoming, encouraging environment. As an English Conversation Partner, you'll help adults strengthen their speaking skills while building meaningful relationships across cultures.
No teaching experience is required—we'll provide the resources and support you need.
What You'll Do
- Meet with an adult English learners once a week for 30–60 minutes.
- Practice everyday English through casual conversation and guided activities.
- Encourage learners as they grow in confidence and communication.
- Choose to volunteer virtually or in person.

- Ongoing support from our Adult Education team.
- Training and encouragement throughout your volunteer experience.
You're a Great Fit If You Are
- Patient, encouraging, and a good listener.
- Interested in learning about different cultures.
- Comfortable having conversations with adult learners.
- Passionate about helping others succeed.
Experience in education, tutoring, or ESL is helpful but not required.
Volunteer Onboarding
Before serving, all volunteers complete our onboarding process, which includes:
- Volunteer application
- Online orientation and training
- Background check
You'll receive everything you need to feel confident and prepared for this opportunity.
