Gentiva Hospice Southaven is seeking dedicated individuals for our Vigil Volunteer program—a unique opportunity to provide companionship, comfort, and presence to patients during their final moments. This role is perfect for both college students passionate about service and retirees looking to offer empathy and support in our hospice community.

Opportunity Overview

As a Vigil Volunteer, you will provide compassionate support to patients by being a calming presence, listening to families or caregivers, and sharing quiet moments of comfort. Volunteers help relieve the unknown in a patient’s final days, bringing comfort and meaning when it matters most.

Gentiva Hospice Southaven proudly serves: Tunica, Horn Lake, Southaven, Olive Branch, Senatobia, Byhalia, and Holly Springs.

Volunteers may be called upon to provide services in any of these communities, offering local connection and heartfelt support.

AMEN for Women Ministries is need of an online reading tutor for an eleven-year-old.  

Need someone to create (drawings) a landscape for a new home and three cabins. Additional information will be provided.

Become part of a team of people passionate about ending sexual exploitation. This group meets periodically to plan fundraising events.

If you are interested in learning how to care for a variety of animals and navigate day to day operations of an animal care in an  educational environment please consider volunteering at the Backyard Wildlife Center at Lichterman Nature Center.

Volunteers will learn and utilize skills, engage with the public, teach about animals, the native ecosystems, and more.  Volunteers will learn to feed, clean, and care for the BWC's collection of animals, including fish, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and more.   You will also help MoSH serve the community and give back to the community.

Volunteers are needed Tuesdays- Sunday, 9am-1pm or 1pm-5pm. This is an on-going volunteer opportunity and we ask that you volunteer for 3 months or more. Volunteers must be 16 years and older. If you are over 18 years old, you must pass a back ground check.

Are you interested in forming a one-on-one relationship with a senior in your community? Helping to combat their social isolation while developing a special bond? This is the program for you!

Friendly Faces is Memphis Jewish Home & Rehab's resident visiting program. We pair volunteers with residents who they visit once every two weeks. Pairings are done based off of interests, backgrounds, etc. to ensure a positive experience for both parties.

Due to the nature of this volunteer opportunity, background checks and TB skin tests are required.

Inspire Hope is an adopter of Bruce Elementary and Booker T. Washington High School. We are expanding academic support for the adopted schools. Our goal is to strengthen academic achievement, build confiedence and expose students to positive role models through consistent supportive tutoring.

Volunteers are needed to assist with flower-arranging activities at the Adult Day Center every first and fourth Friday of the month. Volunteers will help set up materials, offer guidance for individuals, and place the vases around the Home. This is a great opportunity to promote creativity, cognitive engagement, and positive social connection.

Math Tutor for Mentee who has started a job as a carpenter and needs more knowledge in geometry and algebra.

Like helping behind the scenes? Organized and like folding t-shirts? We'd love your help! Vitalant receives, folds and organizes t-shirts each week to prepare them for our deserving blood donors out at our blood drives. At our offices, volunteers can choose a flexible schedule during weekdays. This is a great option for volunteers juggling student or work schedules.

Want an easy way to give back? Support our Vitalant blood donors at our community blood drives!

Volunteers with great people skills needed to greet and check-in arriving donors and keep an eye on donor well-being after the donation process. No previous donation experience needed.

Each month Vitalant hosts drives in the Greater Memphis area at schools, businesses and local organizations. Volunteers can pick the drive dates and locations that work for them.

JA Career Speaker Series is a one-time volunteer commitment where the volunteer guest speaker has the opportunity to engage with students for approximately one hour. The volunteer guest speaker is asked to discuss his or her career with students, how they entered that career, details about the work that is involved and their educational experience.

Volunteers are required to complete a background check before training. Following registration, a background screening link and required documents for review and signature will be sent via email. If not completed, the volunteer will be unable to volunteer.

Give the Gift of Time! This important volunteer position is to ensure adequate support is provided to the responding disaster workforce responsible for delivering Red Cross services to the community.

Every day, people are forced from their home due to fires, storms or other disasters. As a Disaster Action Team volunteer, you will work as part of an assigned team to provide immediate support and assistance to individuals and families who have been impacted by a home fire or other local disaster. Training is free, but the hope you bring is priceless.
