Volunteer: Pink Palace Museum Teen Summer Volunteer Program

     ⛹️‍♀️Summer Volunteer Opportunities for Teens ages 16-18 at the Pink Palace Museum

The Pink Palace Museum will have three summer positions available for teens ages 16-18 years old. Teens will be placed across the museum where they will interact with the public, engage in public speaking, help visitors explore galleries using interactive exhibit components, historical artifacts, and iconic objects. Volunteers will learn about the many career opportunities in the field of museum studies, gain valuable training, work experience, and an opportunity to build a network of professional contacts.  Volunteers must be able to work for 4 weeks starting June 2, 2026, until July 31, 2026. Volunteers must also be available to work on Thursday, and Saturdays. The hours are 10:30-2:30 or 1:00-4:30. Applicates must provide two letters of recommendations from teachers or counselors. Contact Janie Best Paraham at janie.paraham@memphistn.gov for applications and to set up interview times.

REQUREMENTS:

Must be in grades 10-12. 

Be able to communicate well with the public 

Be enthusiastic

Have a strong interest in learning about science, and natural history

Help bring history to life as a docent guide at the Mallory- Neely Home located in the Victorian Village Historic District. The Mallory-Neely Home is one of Memphis' treasured historic sites. It is all the more special in that it retains all of the original historic interiors, furniture, and artifacts almost exclusively.

As a guide in this wonderful home, you will offer visitors up close and personal experiences while walking through the home. You will give visitors a glimpse into the lives of a family from over hundred years ago.  Docents will conduct tours and give accurate information on the home and its occupants.  Docents will also assist with special events and serve as a link between the community and guests to the home. Docents must commitment to 4 hours a month on Fridays or Saturdays for one year.  Preferred skills are individuals with a desire to work with the public and an interest in history.
