Join Volunteer Memphis for a high-energy Volunteer-A-Thon as part of the 2026 MLK Days of Service! Volunteers will work together in one-hour shifts to assemble necessity kits, warm weather kits, and pup kits that will be distributed to organizations across the Memphis community serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness. 

This fast-paced, hands-on service opportunity allows volunteers to make a meaningful impact in a short amount of time. Each volunteer will select one activity per shift and help us reach our goal of preparing thousands of essential items for our neighbors in need. 

Volunteer Memphis MLK Days of Service encourages the City of Memphis to Care Like King through collective action, compassion, and service. This activity will take place at the Ben Hooks Central Library on Poplar Ave. 

All supplies will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to arrive on time and be ready to work as part of a team to maximize impact.

If you want to learn more about local beers, great local restaurants, help children learn about science and local history, then you should volunteer for the Science of Beer at the Pink Palace Museum on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 5:00-pm-10:00pm. 

Volunteers will assist food and beverage vendors at their stations, help with checking in guests, assist education staff with table activities, assist with breakdown of event at the end of the event, monitor spaces, assist at pretzel art station, help with maintaining food and drink areas, and more.

All volunteers must be 21 years and over and must remain until the breakdown of the event is complete. This is a fun volunteer event, and all proceeds benefit the education and community engagement department. Pizza, beverages, and snacks will be provided for volunteers.

                                          Staff and volunteers are not allowed to consume beer at the event.

Tucked away in the heart of metropolitan Memphis, Lichterman Nature Center brings nature to life with exciting exhibits, native wildflowers and trees, and a tradition of excellence in environmental education for the public and school groups. Set in the midst of 65 acres of lakes, meadow, and forest, Lichterman is an urban wildlife oasis and home to a wide variety of plants, birds, reptiles, and more.

If you enjoy volunteering outdoors, learning about native plants and animals, and helping educate the public about wildlife, then you should volunteer at the Lichterman Nature Center for our Clean-Up/ Fix Up Saturday. Volunteers need to be 16 years and over. 

Volunteers will help with trail maintenance, cleaning up the Children's Discovery Forest, assist in the greenhouse and plant propagation center, help maintain learning outdoor spaces in the Backyard Wildlife Center, and more.
