Drawstrings and backpacks are given to housing insecure individuals at shelters and during outreach visits. Some ideas of items to include are listed below. Volunteer: Career Enhancement for Senior Job Training ProgramMeritan, a Memphis-based nonprofit organization, is looking for volunteers to assist with our Senior Employment Program. This programs helps those who want to enter or re-enter the workforce, but need career training to prepare for new workplace experiences; each program participant is placed at a local "host" agency, another nonprofit organization in the area. The host agency provides the training and receives the benefit of having an additional staff member while Meritan pays the wages to the participants while overseeing the program. Participants also benefit from career services that help find permanent job placements once training is complete.
We are looking for volunteers to assist with resume writing, mock interviews, and lead classes in subjects such as Digital Literacy (how to apply for positions online), Conflict Resolution, Customer Service, and Adapting to Change.
