What We Do
The Dorothy Day House seeks to keep families together while experiencing homelessness. Families typically stay for 4-6 months and during that time, we help them find a job, reliable transportation, and an affordable place to live. Dorothy Day House staff works directly with families to get back on their feet by enrolling their kids in school, providing food and toiletries, providing parental classes and more.
Mission Statement
Rooted in the tradition of the Gospels and inspired by the vision and passion of Dorothy Day, the Dorothy Day House provides temporary housing and support services for homeless families in Memphis, TN. Working with other local agencies, staff members, and volunteers, we provide families in need with a safe environment and the means to re-establish their independence. All guests are welcomed as Christ with no discrimination.
