Who We Are

The mission of the Carpenter Art Garden is to work with the children of Binghampton to promote each child's creative potential and self-worth through exposure to artistic, educational, and vocational programs. Our vision is to empower the youth to create their best futures.

What We Do

We partner with the Binghampton community to develop and implement vibrant programs that cultivate creativity, a love of learning, relationship-building, leadership, and neighborhood pride.

The Carpenter Art Garden is a community-led organization that empowers and enriches the youth of the marginalized Binghampton neighborhood through personal development and community building. Having successfully transformed a dangerous street into a thriving community anchor for children, our seven properties on Carpenter Street embody these core values: connection, listening, trust, creativity, safety, teamwork, and pride in our work.

Unlike other programs that focus on reaching as many clients as possible, Carpenter Art Garden’s programming is intentionally crafted to build deep, life-long relationships after school with a limited number of participants who affectionately refer to themselves as Art Garden Members.
