Who We Are

We are a vibrant church - a congregation of growing families, with a busy Sunday children's chapel, youth classes, and an active youth program. Our congregation is also blessed with many long-time members who exemplify their loyalty, wisdom, and joy in the spiritual journey. Rooted in ancient traditions, it strives to welcome all with fresh worship offerings, in-depth Christian education, youth activities and a loving faith community.

Mission Statement: Church of the Holy Communion is a sacred presence in the center of Memphis, a welcoming church that gives glory to God through worship, service, and learning.

What We Do

Church of the Holy Communion offers many outreach opportunities for its members to connect with others and give back to the community. Get involved in one of our many outreach programs today!

  • More than a Meal
    • When: The first Sunday of each month at Grace St. Luke's
    • What: Prepare and serve a meal at Grace St. Luke's Episcopal Church on the first Sunday of each month. Sign up to provide ingredients for the meal, to cook, or to serve, each shift lasts about two hours.
  • Emmanuel Center
    • Emmanuel Center is an after-school program for elementary students that is located at 604 St. Paul Avenue. Volunteers are invited to participate in Team Read, providing tutoring for second graders on reading, or to help provide after-school snacks and shelf-stable food for their food pantry.
  • St. Luke's Food Pantry
    • St. Luke's University Cluster Food Pantry serves three zip codes, including Holy Communion's zip code of 38117. Volunteers are invited to donate shelf-stable food by bringing it to a designated collection bin at the church.
  • Gleaning Project
    • Every Summer, Holy Communion teams up with other area organizations to glean excess produce from the Agricenter Famers Market. Gleaning is the biblical practice of gathering food that would otherwise be left to rot and preparing to be shared with the hungry and those in need. Each Wednesday, we gather the excess produce and bring it to Holy Communion to be processed on Thursday morning. The food is prepared and then frozen into family-sized entrees and sides. We invite you to come help turn produce into meals that are then delivered to the Emmanuel Center for the children and their families to enjoy, other groups that may be in need, and parishioners who could use pastoral care.
  • World Relief Good Neighbors Team
    • Holy Communion is partnering with World Relief Memphis to sponsor refugee families resettling in Memphis. If you are interested in training to become a member of a "Good Neighbor Team," please contact Judy Horning to register for the next training session.
  • St. Columba's Camp Able
    • Every Summer, Holy Communion provides a meal for campers and counselors at St. Columba's Camp Able. Camp Able is a nationally known camp serving children with diverse-abilities so that they can enjoy the wonders of a variety of outdoor and indoor activities offered by a traditional day camp in a nurturing Christian environment with a camper/counselor ratio of 1:1.
