Who We Are

Shelby County VOAD unites faith-based, nonprofit, community, and government partners to strengthen disaster preparedness, response, and recovery across Shelby County. Guided by the 4C’s — Cooperation, Communication, Coordination, and Collaboration — we bring organizations together to share resources, reduce duplication of services, and ensure survivors receive timely, compassionate support.

What We Do

Shelby County VOAD exists to put the 4C’s into practice — Cooperation, Communication, Coordination, and Collaboration — so that our community is prepared, responsive, and resilient in the face of disaster. Our Work Includes: • Cooperation – Building trusted relationships among churches, nonprofits, government agencies, and community groups to serve survivors together. • Communication – Sharing timely information, situational awareness, and resource updates to reduce confusion and duplication during crises. • Coordination – Organizing volunteers, supplies, and services so that needs are met efficiently and equitably across Shelby County. • Collaboration – Partnering on training, exercises, and long-term recovery projects that strengthen resilience and empower every neighborhood. • Preparedness & Response – Hosting workshops, developing plans, and mobilizing quickly when emergencies strike. • Recovery Support – Assisting families with rebuilding, case management, and emotional/spiritual care long after the immediate crisis. Impact: By living out the 4C’s, Shelby County VOAD ensures that no organization stands alone and no survivor is left behind. Together, we transform disaster response into a unified, compassionate movement of hope and resilience.
