My name is Shelbi Sellers and I am the Director of Partnerships here at Opera Memphis! I will slowly be taking over our volunteer program from Sarah Squire. I am excited to get to know you all!
We are looking for volunteers for our upcoming performances of La bohème!
We haven't quite started with our new volunteer policies and procedures, including how volunteers can earn free tickets to our performances. So be on the lookout for that in the next season. BUT, we do have some upcoming opportunities in which you will get to see our upcoming production for free by volunteering.
Please review our volunteer sign-up for the upcoming Friday, May 17 (7:30 PM Performance), and Saturday, May 18 (7:30 PM Performance) at the Scheidt Family Performing Arts Center. More about the La bohème first!
The most popular work in the history of Opera Memphis returns in a brand new production set in an era when WC Handy and William Grant Still rubbed elbows on Beale Street. This celebration of youth, freedom, and passion inspired Rent, Moulin Rouge, and the questionable life choices of starving artists across the globe. Let it inspire you as well!
The cast includes Chauncey Packer, Marquita Richardson, Reginald Smith Jr., Kayla Oderah, Eric McKeever, Edwin Jhamal Davis, Marcus King, and Sergio Mandujano. The production is co-directed by Dennis Whitehead Darling and Ned Canty and will be conducted by Jeri Lynne Johnson.

When volunteering at the Scheidt Center, we will provide you with a volunteer badge to designate you as an Opera Memphis volunteer. Dress neatly and comfortably (i.e. no Opera Memphis t-shirts; no formal attire). There is no color requirement for the dress code.
Please remember to consider your personal schedule when signing up. When volunteers do not attend after signing up, they are sorely missed!
