Description

A Time to MournHey Everyone,

Though this is often thought as the month of love, grief can occur at any moment, and just because the event passes doesn't mean that the wounds caused have healed. To help with such, please join the Center for Faith and Imagination in partnership with Church Health Center on Feb. 17th, 2023 starting at 5:30 PM for an evening of prayer, fellowship, music, and the collective sharing of grief.

Please read the description below for more information and who to contact should you have additional concerns.

"Acknowledging the community’s grief and ongoing despair, the Center for Faith and Imagination (CFI) at Memphis Seminary will offer “A Time to Mourn” on Friday, February 17th at 5:30 pm in the Community Room of the Church Health Center, located in Crosstown Concourse.

The event will be a service of lament, offering an opportunity for ministers and faith leaders to name and share our collective and individual grief in a sacred, supportive community. The service will include prayer, music, art, rituals of candle-lighting and of sharing tears, and more.

“Part of the call to ministry is to walk with people in times of loss and help carry their burdens. Our community is reeling with loss and pastors are staggering under the immense load as they try to help deal with the sadness, anger, fear, frustration, despair, and weariness of the pressing grief.” said Martha Lyle Ford, CFI director. “Pastors need time and space to give voice to their own grief, to be prayed for, and to be surrounded by friends and colleagues who are carrying the same load.”

In addition to the February 17 event, CFI will offer the opportunity for ministers to participate in ongoing grief small groups.

Please contact Dr. Martha Lyle Ford mlford@memphisseminary.edu or Rev. Stephanie Patton spatton@memphisseminary.edu for additional information about the event."

Thank you all for your time, and we pray that this is helpful to all who attend (...with Jesus in our hearts forever). #GoBucs
