Description

Barth House: MR 2023 Convocation Event

Hello Everyone,

To accompany this year's discussion around "His Name is George Floyd" (the Memphis Reads 2023 Book Selection), we will be holding a city-wide convocation and prayer with our partners at Barth House Episcopal Center on Oct. 4th, 2023, beginning at 5 PM.

There we will have collective prayer, student testimonies from CBU, Rhodes College, and the University of Memphis, as well as fellowship after with light refreshments.

Again, our hope from this event in coming together is simple:

  1. Prayer for our Greater Memphis community in healing from socioeconomic and racial inequities.
  2. To create a safe space where everyone can reflect about the instances facing our region, as well as world-wide.
  3. To provide a fellowship in which individuals can meet and potentially, create solutions to prevent these kind of tragic events from occurring as frequently as they have, as well as never again.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact CBU Center for Community Engagement Director, Justin Brooks (jbrook13@cbu.edu).

In the meantime, we look forward to having you all join us, and please feel free to bring a friend or family member.

In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

Let us gather as one so that we can aid the process in healing and being stronger for tomorrow TOGETHER!
