9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance
“Honoring our Mid-South First Responders”
In 2009 according to the Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS), Congress designated September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance under bipartisan federal law. Since September 11, 2001, millions of Americans have come together with a common purpose to honor 9/11 and commemorate the tragedy through volunteer service. Volunteer Memphis is leading this year’s commemoration, which is the 21st anniversary of the tragic attacks.
Together, we represent a shared belief that by neighbor helping neighbor, we can make our country stronger and better for decades to come. Volunteer Memphis’ goal is to enlist volunteers to assist with the recognition and honoring of our Mid-South First Responders. During this day of service, Volunteer Memphis, along with community partners and sponsors, will provide meals to members of the City of Memphis Fire Department, Bartlett Fire Department, Collierville Fire Department, and Germantown Fire Department.
