Description

Do you love art? Do you enjoy interacting with people and sharing information? Are you looking for a regular volunteer commitment with monthly educational and enrichment opportunities? Do you want to meet others in Memphis who also love learning and talking about art?

The Brooks' Docent Program, which has been serving school-aged children for 60 years, is looking for Docent Candidates for the Class of 2025. This class of docents will begin training in September 2024.

The Docent Program consists of a training period and then a service period as a Docent. Though new docent training only lasts four months, docents receive continuous training through monthly meetings led by educators or curators. After completing their initial training, docents select one day of the week to be available for giving tours to school or adult groups. We ask that docents commit to two years of service within the program though many stay and continue to be active for years to come.

The Docent Program is offering two sections of training this fall, though both will begin in September and end by mid-December. These two sections will specialize in different areas, either School Tour Docents or Specialty Group Docents

Training sessions will be offered either on weekends/evenings (Specialty Group Docents) or during the weekday (School Tour Docent).

If you are interested in our docent program please contact Kate Langley at 901-544-6244 or kate.langley@brooksmuseum.org
